Mat Britton is a well-known physiotherapist and local legend who has been part of the Greater Springfield community for many years. He played an integral part in founding the Springfield Runners Group well over a decade ago and through his passion for sport and running, has been able to treat and get people back doing whatever they love to do.
In 2014, Mat founded "Trail to Triumph - Tony's Journey" in memory of his dad Tony, who sadly lost his battle to Mesothelioma in March 2014. In October that year TTT was born with the first 250km ultramarathon from Mackay to Moranbah run completed over 2 1/2 gruelling days. It's been run every October and again this year, runners will attempt to complete the 250km Moranbah to Mackay journey from the October 6th - 8th. The event not only is held in memory of Tony Britton but it works to raise awareness and funds to assist in assessment, treatment and research for Mesothelioma and others lung diseases like Silicosis. You can donate to the cause at the below links.
As you'll hear in the conversation, Mat has been overwhelmed and truly grateful for the support he has and continues to receive throughout the year through not only the run but also events such as Annual Golf Day, Trivia Night, Brushes and Bubbles and the Virtual Events run. When you attend a function or if you're fortunate enough attend the run up north, you become part of the TTT family which has grown to large numbers, which can be seen by the record group heading up this year.
In the conversation with Mat, Steve talks to him about life, how he became a Physio, his reflections on sport, his time in martial arts and plenty of stories in between. It's his love and passion for TTT that truly is a delight within the discussion and his unwavering focus on helping to make a difference to those suffering and experiencing lung diseases that really shines.

Penelope Sampson (aka Mum) has been "My Greatest Teacher" in life. Emigrating from England with her three kids in the early 1980's, it wasn't long before she welcomed another son, an Aussie boy named...you guessed it..Steve or Stephen if I was ever in trouble (-; I've always appreciated and valued her thoughts, reflections and advice throughout my life and thought it was a great opportunity to share some of that wisdom with others.
With over 30 years working within the disability services sector, Penny reflects on her precious memories and time helping those with a disability and showcasing her love for people. She's also a Life Coach and a Virtues Master Facilitator who discusses how she was introduced to the Virtues and how they have helped her in life, through the challenges she's faced and the journey she's travelled on.

Teremoana Jnr, is a Queensland & Australian Amateur Boxer who started boxing when he was around 12 years of age. Encouraged by his father into the sport, he ended up being crowned Cook Island's Super Heavyweight Champion back in 2017 but when he turned 21, he set his sights on stepping up and had 4 professional fights, with all won by knockout!
He says "I don't just want to be good, I want to be great", a quote summed up by his decision to step back into the amateurs and he's represented Australia overseas and most recently became Australia's Amateur Super Heavyweight Champion at the Australian Boxing Championship held in Perth. This win meant he continues to chase greatness as he competes at the Pan Pacific Games in November, where another gold medal will see him jet off with the Australian team for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Don't be fooled by his size, he's a man with a big heart and his love for his family, his culture and his countries is something that is certainly inspiring. The respect he has for the sport and his opponents and the pride he holds every time he steps into the ring has certainly captured hearts and minds all around the world. He has a bright future ahead of him!
